“It’s a real problem for a lot of people. It’s not just kids. You have adults in the 40s and 50s who haven’t been able to get the jobs that they deserve, because you’re sort of misrepresented by how you speak.”

Emily Blunt on stuttering

Problem worth solving

More than 70 million people worldwide stutter. Although the precise causes of stuttering are still unknown, most researchers now consider stuttering to be a neurological condition that interferes with the production of speech. Despite scientific breakthroughs in our knowledge about stuttering, there is still no reliable cure that works consistently, across time, and for all people who stutter.

Her Highness – The Phone Calls

One of the most difficult real-life situations for people who stutter is simply – making a phone call. Using the phone is uncomfortable for many people, whether they stutter or not. For people who stutter, making a phone call causes a great deal of anguish, fear, and stress. All these negative emotions induce phone call avoidance and can lead to more serious health problems such as social anxiety and depression.

Project Stuey

Etobico’s key product Stuey is the first and innovative electronic device that helps people who stutter make a phone call.

More than 1 % of the world’s population stutters, making our mission of a global significance. There is still no reliable cure that works consistently for all people who stutter. Stuttering is a neurological disorder that can only be relieved and reduced.

We are not aiming to cure stuttering. We are aiming to increase the  quality of life for people who stutter. Our team is looking forward to solving a day-to-day battle for people who stutter where phone calls are more frequent than face-to-face interactions.

Approximately 70% of the meaning we get from the dialog comes from non-verbal communication. The rest of it comes from verbal communication. This is not the case, however, when you’re on the phone. In actuality, 70% goes up 100%. When you’re on the phone with someone, you’ve only got a person’s voice to rely on. This fact is the part people who stutter find agonizing.

The importance of being able to communicate with others is of utmost importance in our everyday lives. Stuey is a revolutionary device that we believe can change the world of stuttering. With sleek and elegant design, Stuey aims to provide a long term solution for people who stutter when speaking on the phone, with an end goal of improving the quality of life.

Our mission is to empower people who stutter to live more freely.
